Discover my work with Tamarack Custom Builders
At Middle Ear Media, I had the opportunity to work with Tamarack Custom Builders, a reputable company known for applying sustainable ideas to their custom built homes and remodels. They were among the first in the Marquette area to embrace green and sustainable building techniques, and I was excited to help them showcase their work through a brand new website.
Web Design and Front-end Development
I designed and developed a website for Tamarack Custom Builders, that included a blog, a section to showcase their various projects, and of course the usual information about and methods to make contact with them. Some notable features of the website are a relatively new method for including different fonts called @font-face, which was used extensively to embed the ArchitectsDaughter font throughout the site. The homepage is created dynamically and includes content from three different pages. On the Projects page, all of the projects are listed in random order, added dynamically from the Project sub-pages. Each one includes a link and (up to) three images from each project’s photo gallery.
The website design is light and earthy, featuring a cream background, brown text, and green links. Several shades of green and yellow were also used in the sidebar. Section titles on the homepage were rotated to make them more interesting, and the navigation links employ unique styles for hover, active, and current page states. There are also custom styled date boxes and comment bubbles for the blog posts. All images are given a special border that uses a background image as well as a box-shadow to create crisp frames for photos that seem to jump out of the page.
CMS
The CMS (Content Management System) was set up to make it very easy for Tamarack Custom Builders to add more projects, photos, and blog posts in the future, allowing them to update their website with new work and projects easily. Additionally, I incorporated SEO(Search Engine Optimization) and provided web hosting for the website to ensure that it is accessible to customers and easily found by search engines.

Finally, I provided web hosting for the website to ensure that it is always accessible to customers. The hosting service ensures that the website is up and running smoothly, with fast load times and minimal downtime.
I am happy to have had the opportunity to work with Tamarack Custom Builders and help them showcase their work and dedication to sustainability through their website. The website effectively highlights their commitment to quality and eco-friendly building techniques and leaves a lasting impression on visitors.
